Sebastian the lobster
By Somers On Wednesday, January 24, 2007:: 1 Comments

So Tuesday afternoons Sebastian cuts out of school early and we head to the Aquarium to hang at the North Rock exhibit with a few other "part time" parents... a few things I have noticed (after the first trip).

First, there is really a lot of creatures in the tank!  There is everything from sharks, lobsters, eels, tuna fish, groupers, and all the other little reef fish too.  As seen above, Sebastian is tracking the lobster along the bottom of the tank.  Having been to the aquarium before and spent some time there, it really isn't apparent to you how much they have in that tank until you sit there for a while... then you start to really notice, and it is amazing.

Secondly the afternoon aquarium with kids in tow is really a female dominated sport.  Between the hours of 3-4pm I only saw one other guy there, and I don't think he was there with kids; I think he was a misguided tourist who was tricked by the latest tourism ad about how wonderful and warm Bermuda is in the winter...  Anyway, so there are not a lot of male testosterone floating around by the big fish tank, but I don't think Sebastian minds, and I don't mind too much.  As long as the mommies don't give me the weird "what is that guy doing here" look...

Thirdly, it is a good idea to bring a snack for Seba... the kid is an eating machine, and if there wasn't that 3 inch think glass between him and that lobster I swear he would grab it and eat it...

OK OK OK! I got the hint! Your choice location next time :-) Whenever I've seen guys walking their kids in Botanical Garderns I always think how cool it is, for a boy especially, to have so much time with their Dads!
